Perform a Profile Search

A Profile Search is a query-by-example (QBE) search that helps you locate documents matching any entries in any fields on the Document Profile. For example, if you know a document's author, the person who entered the document into the system, or the client for whom the document was produced, you can use a Profile Search.

To perform a profile search:

  1. Click the Advanced link at the top of the page.

  2. If it is not already displayed, click the Profile Search tab.

  3. Enter information you know about the document into appropriate fields on the profile search form. To return a more specific list of documents, enter as much information as you can about a document.

  4. Click the Search button. A list of documents that meet all the criteria you provided is displayed on the Search Results tab.

Note

Note:
If you do not enter any search criteria, a list of everything in the selected Library is returned. This can take a long time and is not advisable. The fewer the details you provide, the larger the list of possible returns and the longer the overall process.
